Agricover launches a scholarship programme for young farmers in Romania

Agricover Group continues its strategy of social responsibility and launches the program "Agricover 2020 Scholarships" in which 10 scholarships, worth 100,000 euros, will be offered to young farmers in Romania who want to ensure the continuity of the family business and specialize by following the courses of the second series of the Young Leaders for Agriculture Program (2020-2021) of the Romanian Farmers Club for Performance Agriculture.

"Social responsibility is an integral part of the Agricover Group's development strategy, and our involvement has been constant over the last two years, through our support to Romanian farmers to create and launch the Romanian Farmers' Club for Performance Farming Association. Developed by the Club, the Young Leaders for Agriculture program is a complex educational resource with a huge training potential for those who want to specialize in agriculture. By awarding annual scholarships, we aim to invest in the education of future generations and facilitate access to the program for young farmers who cannot support themselves financially. The future of agriculture means specialized information and digital technology, put into practice by ambitious young people, ready to become entrepreneurs and architects of a sustainable and competitive Romanian agriculture", said Liviu Dobre, Managing Director of Agricover Holding S.A.

The 10 Agricover scholarships cover the full cost of education, transport, accommodation and meals, with an individual value of €10,000 for one year of study. From today until 12 October inclusive, young people from farming families who run farms of up to 400 hectares, are aged up to 35 and have graduated from university or are still students can apply.

Launched in November 2019, the Young Leaders for Agriculture programme of the Romanian Farmers' Club aims to prepare young people to actively participate in the professional representation of the interests of Romanian agriculture in public administration structures in Romania and in Brussels, ensure the continuity of business in agriculture, acquire business and communication skills, as well as increase their involvement in social responsibility projects.

The Young Leaders for Agriculture Programme of the Romanian Farmers' Club is developed together with the Leaders Foundation and has as educational partners: Ascendis, Human Invest and Attitude Training, together with experienced specialists in business, family business, training and mentoring.

"This year, the Young Leaders for Agriculture program will certify the first series of graduates and will start a new session of courses with double the number of young farmers eager to specialize in order to make a substantial contribution to the development of Romanian agriculture. We are honoured to have with us partners who share common values and invest in education. The ten Agricover Fellows will join the young people recruited by the Club, all of whom will benefit from a unique educational experience, based on the development of business and individual skills, addressing the three major objectives of the programme: increasing competitiveness, ensuring business succession and continuity, leadership and representation. The future of farmers' businesses depends on preparing today, so we are confident that our programs will build a solid foundation for the innovative agriculture of the future," said Florian Ciolacu, Executive Director, Romanian Farmers' Club.
